Background: The demand for services for people with gender incongruence and dysphoria has grown rapidly. Most psychiatrists have had little to no training in this field. Objectives: For participants to: improve their knowledge and understanding of gender diversity and dysphoria; learn about interventions that explore and affirm gender identity; consider ways to make their practices gender inclusive; confront unresolved questions and controversies in this field; and, be equipped with resources for themselves and their patients. Methods: Information will be presented through a variety of methods and media, highlighting consumer perspectives and utilising active learning. Findings: Gender incongruence and dysphoria is no longer rare. It has profound and widespread effects on the lives of the people directly affected, as well as their immediate and broader social networks. Conclusions: Psychiatrists have much to learn but are uniquely placed to understand and contribute to the biological, psychological and social management, research and advocacy for the improved care of gender incongruent and gender dysphoric children, youth and adults.-
