Abstract: Effective and safe use of social media in health professional education can represent both a process for learning and a learning outcome for learners, teachers, and scholars. Achieving these goals requires specific skills and often new approaches for effective integration of social media. This chapter considers health professionals{\textquoteright} use of social media in education - the advantages, opportunities, and pitfalls - for learners, teachers, and scholars. We will consider some contemporary challenges including quality indicators, digital scholarship, ethics, and professionalism. A series of hypothetical case vignettes give readers tangible illustrations of our content.
