Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia and may cause life-threatening disease in children. We identified 30 (0.3%) confirmed M. pneumoniae cases by clinical and laboratory criteria in 11,526 pediatric intensive care unit admissions. Outcomes were comparable to patients admitted with other infections (n=3005; P > 0.1). Our findings indicate that empiric antimicrobial coverage for M. pneumoniae infection in pediatric intensive care unit is rarely needed.L6309959822020-02-26
2020-03-03
en
