Title: | How applying effective change management strategies could contribute to the development of the radiology team | Authors: | Nugent, N. | Issue Date: | 2016 | Source: | 63 , 2016, p. 65 | Pages: | 65 | Journal: | Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences | Abstract: | Radiation Professionals are a core group within the acute health care setting who must be flexible in all situations of their working life, be able to manage emergent matters as they occur, and be able to liaise with multiple teams in routine and emergency/crisis management situations. As with most teams within a multi faceted organization, and within the global health care industry, the prospect of change can be filled with fear and difficulty. By applying change management principles from concepts by Kotter, Lewin and McKinsey, we can effectively manage the change within the team making us ready to manage the myriad of demands that are required from us from the organisation, colleagues and patients. Resistance to change in teams can lead to an environment where productivity declines, change is sabotaged, team and individual morale declines markedly, and work arounds are created to avoid implementing a new process abound. All of these have a negative impact on patient safety and on team outcomes. Implementing structure and transparent change management approaches can increase team cohesiveness, increase key stakeholders satisfaction, improve patient outcomes and lead to an overall happier workplace. This presentation will outline strategies to be used when undergoing change and will alert you to the signs that the change process is faltering.L613470155 | DOI: | 10.1002/jmrs.1_166/full | Resources: | http://www.embase.com/search/results?subaction=viewrecord&from=export&id=L613470155http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/jmrs.1_166/full http://linksource.ebsco.com/ls.b6e6cc08-c492-42af-aec4-c6084e18e68c.true/linking.aspx?sid=EMBASE&issn=20513909&id=doi:10.1002%2Fjmrs.1_166%2Ffull&atitle=How+applying+effective+change+management+strategies+could+contribute+to+the+development+of+the+radiology+team&stitle=J.+Med.+Radial.+Sci.&title=Journal+of+Medical+Radiation+Sciences&volume=63&issue=&spage=65&epage=&aulast=Nugent&aufirst=Naomi&auinit=N.&aufull=Nugent+N.&coden=&isbn=&pages=65-&date=2016&auinit1=N&auinitm= |
