Title: | A rare case of uterine rupture in a primigravida | Authors: | Green, A. Field, B. |
Issue Date: | 2017 | Source: | 57 , 2017, p. 45 | Pages: | 45 | Journal: | Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology | Abstract: | Uterine rupture in a primigravida is a rare occurrence. A 24-yearold G1P0 presented to birth suite in spontaneous labour. She had an uncomplicated pregnancy with a background of two previous laparoscopies for excision of endometriosis. Her labour was augmented with oxytocin and she subsequently developed profound hypotension unresponsive to vasopressors. She underwent an emergency caesarean section and was found to have an extensive haemoperitoneum. A posterior uterine wall rupture was identified and sutured. This case raises the questions as to whether patients with previous laparoscopies should be counselled regarding the risks of rupture or offered an elective caesarean section.L619418508 | DOI: | 10.1111/ajo.12725 | Resources: | /search/results?subaction=viewrecord&from=export&id=L619418508http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/ajo.12725 | Keywords: | endogenous compoundoxytocin;adult;case report;cesarean section;emergency;endometriosis;excision;female;hemoperitoneum;human;hypotension;myometrium;patient history of laparoscopy;primigravida;uterus rupture | Type: | Article |
